THE DEAD WE KNEW: Open World Survival is a survival game set in a dangerous world where you must create a safe place of your own. Scavenge abandoned structures and gather resources to build a shelter, then expand it into a stronger, more livable base.

Survival means preparing for changing conditions and threats. A 24-hour day and night cycle brings shifting wind, rain, and dense fog, which can reduce visibility as zombies become more aggressive. You can face the world alone or play cooperatively with up to four players.

Gameplay and features

  • Build and improve your shelter: Use gathered materials to craft items, make a place to rest, and develop a simple cabin into a larger, sturdier base.
  • Prepare for changing weather: Gather resources and reinforce your shelter through a 24-hour cycle. Wind, rain, and fog can affect conditions and visibility.
  • Survive together: Play alone or team up in co-op for up to four players to explore, build, and defend against threats.
  • Find and prepare food: Search abandoned places, hunt animals such as deer, cook meat over a fire, and grow vegetables such as tomatoes for meals.
