Aloft description

Aloft is a survival game set among cloudborne islands. You can turn an island into a flying ship and explore the skies, with the central task of confronting a spreading fungal corruption that threatens life across the islands. The broader objective is to cure affected places and help restore balance to their airborne ecosystem.

Each island is a living ecosystem that can be harmed by unsustainable gathering as well as fungal corruption. Exploring ancient ruins can reveal lost knowledge and secrets of the past, while finding new technology is another reason to venture through the skies.

Gameplay and features

  • Sail and automate your skyship: Build a helm, rudder, and sails to steer your island through the winds. Windmills connected by cables and pulleys can automate machines and production; strong winds can also boost crafting power and sailing speed, while putting your sails to the test.
  • Treat corruption and restore ecosystems: Defeat mushroom creatures in combat and craft antidotes to cure islands and save animals. Restoring biodiversity unlocks special resources and makes islands more resistant to corruption.
  • Grow crops and care for animals: Collect seeds and animals during your travels, then bring them to your home island. Grow crops for cooking and meet animals’ needs to obtain rare resources; animals that have their needs met can also protect you.
  • Create and share islands: Design islands with the in-game island creator and share them with the community so they can appear in other players’ worlds.
