Deponia is a comedy adventure set on a planet reduced to a vast garbage dump. You follow Rufus, a member of the lowest social class who lives among mountains of trash and hopes to reach the floating city where the rich reside. When Goal, a woman from the upper sector, falls into the junkyard, Rufus sets out to help her return to her husband.

Goal’s husband looks remarkably like Rufus, prompting Rufus to devise a scheme to gain access to the upper world. His feelings for Goal complicate his usual unscrupulous approach. Their relationship is tied to his hope of escaping Deponia and, unexpectedly, saving the planet.
