Aeterna Noctis is a 2D action platformer with a Metroidvania structure. Players take the role of the King of Darkness and explore connected areas on a journey to regain their powers. The story’s world was created by the Supreme God Chaos, whose creations rebelled against him.

Chaos cursed the rebellious leaders, naming them the King of Darkness and the Queen of Light and condemning them to fight each other forever. The game also has a non-linear story with sidequests, and its map comprises 16 interconnected zones that players can navigate at their own pace.
